Toothed Wheel Found in 300-million-year-old Coal

Komsomolskaya Pravda reported that a resident of Vladivostok discovered a metallic-looking rail or rod pressed into a hunk of coal he had obtained to heat his home during the winter. Initial examination of the strange object led researchers to assert it looked "very much like a toothed metal rail, created artificially…like parts [that] are often used in microscopes, various technical and electronic devices"  Full story at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/23/300-million-year-old-tooth-gear_n_2527424.html?utm_hp_ref=email_share

Ancient Russian Fossil Machine

In the remote Kamchatka peninsula University of St. Petersburg archaeologists discovered a strange fossil composed of hundreds of toothed cylinders that appear to be parts of a machine. According to archaeologist Yuri Golubev all the pieces of this machine were dated at 400 million years.  Full story at: http://topalternativenews.com/2012/03/10/400-million-year-old-geared-mechanism-found-in-russia/

REFLECTIONS OF THE FORBIDDEN ARCHEOLOGIST

One topic in which I have become interested in recent years is what I call extrasensory archeology. Most archeologists believe that archeology means studying the material remains of the past with our ordinary material senses and instruments.  But in traditional cultures people have used other methods. For example, in sixteenth century India, saints located lost sacred images through dreams and visions, and then excavated them. Some of the papers published in my most recent book (My Science, My Religion) explore this topic. On hearing about these things, some people might think, "Well, that is just something that people in pre-scientific cultures did. But such things are not part of modern science." But that is not true. Last year, after reading something I had written about extrasensory archeology in medieval India, a young European archeologist wrote to me, asking if I was aware that J. T. Robinson had used a psychic in his research in the Sterkfontein Caves in South Africa in the early 1960s. J. T. Robinson is famous for his discoveries of fossils of the apeman Australopithecus. I was not aware of his use of a psychic. It is not mentioned in any of the textbooks of archeology. The European archeologist directed me to some sources of information about Robinson's work with the psychic, and I followed up on them. Robinson had become acquainted with a psychic named Geoffrey Hodson. He brought him into the Sterkfontein Caves. Hodson lay down on the floor of the cave in a trance. Robinson would put a small fossil of Australopithecus on his head. In his trance, Hodson could see what the creature looked like and what it was doing millions of years ago. Robinson said that all the information provided by Hodson was consistent with the fossil evidence. In January 2013, at the meeting of the World Archaeological Congress at the Dead Sea in Jordan, I presented a paper about Robinson's work with Hodson. So it is not only nonWestern people who lived long ago who used psychic techniques in archeology. Some modern Western scientists have also done so, although this is not very well known. I intend to pursue further research in both ancient and modern examples of extrasensory archeology.

Letters to www.mcremo.com

Hello, Dr. Cremo,

Where exactly in the Vedas does it say that life began 2 billion years ago? Is it not true that Hindu literature says it began 1 billion years ago and that human life began 120 million years ago? That the Earth formed in the 2nd manvatara (about 1 and a half billion years ago), that plants began in the 5th? (Ancient Science at www.world-mysteries.com). And you say that life began 2 billion years ago, but it began 3.8 billion years ago (the 1st bacteria) as any biologist will tell you.

Also, are not the dating methods subject to error because of false assumptions, etc., even with the use of several methods?

Michael Cremo responds:

The Bhagavata Purana (also called the Shrimad Bhagavatam) relates the history of Dhruva Maharaja, who lived during the Svayambhuva manvantara, which is this first manvantara. He was living in a city and went into the forest to meditate. The first manvantara goes from 1.7 - 2.0 billion years ago. There are 14 manvantaras in a kalpa, or day of Brahma. At the beginning of each kalpa, there is creation of bodies of plants and animals and human beings.

sri-rajovaca

yas tu svayambhuve 'ntare

The blessed King said to Sukadeva Gosvami: My dear lord, the demigods, demons, human beings, Nagas, beasts and birds were created during the reign of Svayambhuva Manu.

(Bhagavata Purana 6.4.1)

Today's biologists say they can detect the first chemical signs of life at more than 3 billion years ago, but the oldest undisputed fossil evidence for single celled life is about 2 billion years old, in my opinion. In any case, when we get back that far in time, there is some chance that the dating methods are not entirely accurate.

But people can have different opinions about these things.

Dear Mr. Cremo,

Thank you for your fine book, Forbidden Archeology. I was wondering if the sequencing of DNA has changed your view that Homo Sapiens Sapiens has lived alongside other species for tens of millions of years.

I am a retired farmer with no involvement in paleoanthropology. I know little about the subject; however, I was fascinated with the anomalous evidence presented in your book. There is some evidence of evolution since earth’s formation over 4 billion years ago; however, I don’t buy the homo timeline that the majority opinion has ruthlessly defended.

My gut feeling is that it would take hundreds of millions of years for a Ramapithecus to possibly evolve into a modern man, not the relatively short period since the Pliocene-Pleistocene boundary. Any thoughts you might have with respect to DNA sequencing would be most appreciated.

Michael Cremo responds:

The sequencing of DNA has not changed my ideas about the human species being many millions of years old. There are many problems in associating changes in DNA with changes in time. I deal with this issue in chapter four of my book Human Devolution: A Vedic Alternative to Darwin's Theory.

Sincerely yours,
Michael A. Cremo

Hello Dr. Cremo,

Attached are photos, and what I have put together as a draft of "my observations" of such.

I have other findings that have been authenticated to be 25,000 years old - as well as 'newer' older man made relics. However not appearing to have all of the 'flake and chippings' of newer relics, I can guarantee that they are present to the naked eye. Photography does not do a multi dimensional object justice.

Can you please assist me in dating these historical objects?  I look forward to hearing from you.

[Excerpts from Observations:] The place of the most intriguing finds, I have

painstakingly learned, is a sedimentary layer said, (by the head layer, said

(by the head of the Natural Science Museum), to be 10 million years old in

this particular location. (On being told about these finds, the afore-mentioned

expert will not return calls).

These 'finds' are so extremely delicate until first dried then rinsed in

neutral water, and left to dry. Many did not make it. Once dried, they are of

such description:

*Most have appearance of being burned on one side, blackened.

*All have either embedded sand attached, or were made of a sand type

cement mixture.

*All came from an eroding ocean shore cliff that is eroding, and giving

up her secrets, willingly. Had these not been collected by myself as 'rocks',

they would have been lost forever.

*All samples were taken in a manner to not further erode, disturb,

not disrespect the cliff containing these items. (When collected as just rocks,

I had no knowledge of the privilege, and, obligation, of this history.)

This history needs to preserved, and with no Historians of such in the United

States, I have been extremely frustrated, but will not give up in having this

History documented. Experts have told that me, and I quote, "how did

ancients - Aztecs, or those from South America get to San Mateo County,

California".

I am sure that your answer is close to as mine was.

There was no "America" then.

Sincerely,
Deborah Hock

Michael Cremo responds:

I am a researcher in history of archeology. I am not a field researcher myself, and I do not have laboratory equipment. So I cannot help with dating your finds. There are commercial dating labs who might do it for a fee.
